Joseph Galdo is a supervisor with Mercadien, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, and a dedicated member of the Forensic and Litigation Support practice.
Mr. Galdo has planned and conducted forensic accounting and
investigative engagements for clients in both the public and private sectors. He has assisted legal counsel in complex civil litigation matters by implementing strategies and executing analyses of probative documents and large data sets to uncover illicit activity.
He is also experienced in the bankruptcy and reorganization fields as a result of working closely with court appointed chapter 7 and chapter 11 trustees. Through inquires of management he has identified how and where an entity’s financial statements might be susceptible to material misstatement due to fraud. He has been responsible on numerous engagements for effectively assessing the risks of material misstatements in order to ensure proper controls are in place and operating effectively.
Mr. Galdo’s diverse accounting background has included the review of various clients’ accounting and operating procedures and internal control systems in order to develop and perform tests of internal control structures, including those over financial reporting. Joe’s prior professional experience as a key fiscal-unit member of a state- chartered municipal agency has afforded him the unique opportunity to understand the inner workings of governmental organizations. Among other duties, he was responsible for coordinating the efforts of a city-wide housing development agency with multiple other national organizations simultaneously. Mr. Galdo’s unique background affords him the ability to develop and tailor a focused approach to his forensic engagements, thereby providing increased value to his clients.
Mr. Galdo also conducts BSA look-backs, and acts as a key resource through regulatory examinations, acting as a member of the BSA management team to address questions and areas of high risk and concern. He is also involved with the BSA department’s reporting process for monitoring of suspicious transactions and preparation of suspicious activity reports.
Mr. Galdo serves as a board member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), as well as a member of Speakers Committee of the ACFE, is an active member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and also as the co-chair of 5K Committee of the YWCA of Princeton. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
Joe graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He resides with his wife and two daughters in Philadelphia, PA.
